Why a Small Business Owner Should Create Alliances

As a small business owner you may worry about your competition. You may think that bigger is better and you will always be outdone by your larger competitors. I would encourage you to think of it differently. Think of your competitors as being your best allies in a collaborative effort to help one another offer the best possible products and services to the consumer. Consider the advantages of creating an alliance with other companies that share your common audience. Believe it or not you as a small business owner have a lot to offer and a lot to gain from these strategic alliances. Generally there are seven different areas in which you stand to gain from such an alliance

  1. Products
  2. Access
  3. Operations
  4. Technology
  5. Strategic Growth
  6. Organization
  7. Finance

How many of these benefits you are able to gain is only limited to what you are willing to give and what you are able to work on. Do not limit yourself to an alliance with only one other company when collaborating with more than one can bring all of these gains to your business.

It is OK to focus on improving in one area at a time. Sometimes one company can provide you with better products and newer technology at a great price which could benefit you. While it may take alliances with several different companies to provide you with all of the products you need to improve your own inventory. Be picky and always consider quality and customer satisfaction to be your top priorities and pick other companies that share these values with you.

When building your small business you will find that creating strategic alliances will help you to have a better business that can better serve your customers.
